To enable future generations to enjoy our beautiful Grade 1 listed Church we need to carry out urgent and ongoing repair work.
The income we receive from those attending services is spent on day to day ministry in our Parish. It cannot provide the sums of money that we need to carry out the various phases of work required. Whilst some of the money is obtained by applying for grants, there is a limit to how much is available.
We believe that a large number of people, although not regular church goers or even resident in the Parish may like to join us in raising additional funds by becoming members of "The Friends of St Mary's".
The objective of the "Friends" is to assist with the preservation, repair, maintenance and improvement of St Mary's as well as its fabric & furnishings and to provide articles for use in worship there. Recently the "Friends" gave £2,000 towards the £12,000 needed to provide the windows with guards so protecting them from further vandalism.
The minimum subscription is £5 per annum for individual membership and £10 for household. Members receive regular newsletters and invitations to special events. The Annual General Meeting is held in October. This is followed by tea and a chance to attend Evensong.
